Reader profile research
Understanding and defining reader profile:
Demographic Information:
Hard data is not questionable.
Age, gender, income, location.
Psycograohic Information:
What genre music do you like?
What bands or artists do you like?
How much money do you spend on music concerts per year?
Whats your favourite brand?
How do you consume music?= download, stream, liten to the radio, CD, vinyl
How many hours per week do you listen to music?
Which technology do you use to listen to you music?= phone, CD, radio
What is a Reader Profile?
A Reader's Profile is a reflection of who you are as a reader. It is important to consider this is order to recognize your reading strengths and weaknesses. With this knowledge you can work on bettering your reading abilities. Reflecting on your reading also allows you to consider the different types of reading you do in like. By considering the different types you can also consider the genres and types you are missing out on.
It is also to show how successful the magazine/advertisement is by showing the gender percentages and social class brackets for the magazine so then when people read it they will see how good the magazine is for them.
What i think my Reader Profile will need.
My reader profile will need to show the gender specifics and will need to show the class divide on who will be more likely going to read my magazine. I will need to include information about the magazine and maybe some pictures to give the reader an idea of what i'm going to be producing. Maybe try to identify different ways to connect with the readers and maybe by knowing information like what your readers currently spend money on, what their needs are, what kind of income they have at their disposal will give me all kinds of ideas for the types of advertisers you can find, the type of affiliate promotions you could do and the types of products you could develop.
How will a reader profile help sell my product?
I think it will help as it will show the different percentages on the gender of who reads my magazine and will also show the social class. There will also be questions for people to answer which helps make the reader profile more interesting. Also there will be mentioning of age, gender, location and the different incomes.

Conventions analysis contents page
Conventions analysis of a contents page of a music magazine.
The main focal point for the content page is the stories and features that are listed on the side with the page numbers. It gives the reader a idea of what the magazine is going to contain and a brief idea of what they are about. The list down the magazine is shown very clearly and includes a little bit of information about each story that if going to be in the magazine. This then helps the reader see what they want to read or not and the page numbers so they can go straight to that page and read the featured story.
They have used the plain background and have kept the idea of the color read from the title 'Q', this shows the reader that there is a color theme (Red) and it is going to be shown throughout the magazine (mainly the titles) as it is a 'Q' magazine. The whole contents page colors consist of red, white and black for the theme of this magazine.
The contents page helps the audience find what they want to read about and are interested in with the page numbers for help so that if they don't want to read about one but want to read about another they can just go straight to that page. Also in the contents page it has a main image that is normally the main, big story that most people are interested in and that most people have heard about but just not heard the full story.

Conventions analysis front cover and Main Brief
Brief:
To design a front cover, contents and double page spread of a new music magazine. All images and text used must be original, a minimum of four images must be used.
Conventions analysis of a front cover:
Language: The main focal point for the front cover magazine is the medium shot image of Lana Del Rey. It shows the reader that it is a music magazine as the artist Lana is the main image and it also has featured stories about other interesting artists. The magazine shows quite clearly the different stories, prizes, what the magazine includes and the title and if this wasn't shown clearly at the top then no one would really know anything about the magazine.
Ideology: They have used a plain background with the different color schemes as a mixture of strong and quite pale colors, this shows the reader that the colors connect with the artist Lana as she is very delicet and quite a plain, simple artist. The magazine has very clear text shown and explains to the reader about the music industry and the different stories that are going around at that time that is big in the media and are interesting to read, also to find out a little more information.
Institution: This magazine is a music magazine and is shown very clearly by the image and the featured story lines of the many different artists and it gives an update on the new releases. The company for the magazine is called 'Q', this magazine is a very popular music magazine which is published monthly in the United Kingdom. The founders of the magazine are called Mark Ellen and David Hepworth who were dismayed by the music press of the time, which they felt was ignoring a generation of older music buyers who were buying CD's. 'Q' was first published by the EMAP media group in October 1986, setting itself apart from much of the other music press with monthly production and higher standards of photography and printing. In the early years the magazine was sub-titled 'The Modern Guide To Music And More'. Originally it was to be called 'Cue' (as in the sense of cueing a record, ready to play) but the names was changed so that it wouldn't be mistaken for a snooker magazine. Another reason, cited in 'Qs' 200th edition is that a single-letter title would be more prominent on newsstands.
Audience: The audience for this music magazine is aimed at people aged 20 upwards , however it can be read by younger people and this is because it gives the variety of different music/artists for different ages and for the different people who are interested in a variety of music and just in general the people who like music. The first thing the audience will notice is the medium shot image of Lana Del Rey who is a artist and will draw people who are interested in music to the magazine.
Representation: The main idea representation for the magazine is all about music and is clearly shown by the image on the front cover or the singer Lana Del Rey and the different featured stories shown on the front of the magazine.

Front Cover of Magazine
I have learnt a lot and one main thing is how to use Photoshop to produce the magazine.
I mainly used Photoshop to produce this magazine.
I have used all the conventions. Language is used by the focal point of the cover image, ideology is the plain white background i have used as it was plain and simple and would help express the writing, institution is shown as it is a college magazine and is shown by the books/folders being help with the typical college boy with the lovely glasses as the main image of the front cover and the audience is clearly shown for college students and finally the representation is the college themed magazine.
I would make the writing more clear for the other headlines and the title and put it mainly all on one line for the main heading.

Photographs for Front Cover
The reason for why i have chosen these ideas for my front cover is because they show a typical college student, with the plain background and some books/folders to show the work that is made during college hours, i have also added the student using some earphones as sometime you normally see the college students walking around.

LIIAR Analysis: Unicorn Advert
Languge:
- The main focal point of this advert is the Unicorns nose/muzzle, it draws the attention to the mint.
- It also shows, a seen to be, woman holding and giving the mint to the Unicorn. It is shown that it is a woman as it has used long, black sleeved gloves holding the mint.
- The pack shot of the packet of 'Extra Strong Mints' is centred at the bottom of the advert, and draws the eye in as it is the only part of the advert that makes use of strong colours and will be the first thing people spot.
- It also uses a white background to show purity and adds an element of fantasy which helps with the mythical creature.
- The advert is for trebor mints and is shown quite clearly.
- They have used a white background which might not seem to be an obvious choice against the white Unicorn. However, the white emphasises the theme of purity and helps add a element of fantasy to the image which also helps with the mythical Unicorn.
- The advert also has some text on the advert which says 'Share with the very discerning' and 'Sweet Success' this helps give the feeling of how successful the trebor mints are and that everyone loves having them nd that people should share with others.
- The audience for this advert is mainly for people who like the mints.
- It also shows a mythical creature that is a beautiful Unicorn and is shown for people to buy it and ahve an intrest in it by looking at what the Unicorn is doing.
- The framing of the scene means that the audience/viewer can not see who the arm belongs too howver because of how the arm is dressed it is shown quite clearly tht the arm is female.
- The audience will notice the mint packet straight away as it is the only part of the advert that is in colour.
- The way the hand is portrayed in this advert is sure to be a woman as she is wearing long, black evening sleeved gloves with shining, silver jewllerey on hich makes the women seem very wealthy, also this is featured to emphasizethe qulity of the mint.
